NYU’s Wendy Suzuki Good Anxiety

Her TED talk this year about how to calm your anxiety already has more than a million views. Her talk on how exercise is great for your brain that she gave back in 2018, has over 15 million views and now I’m bringing a little bit of the wonderful Wendy Suzuki here especially for you.

I had the privilege to meet this powerhouse a couple of years ago when we were both speaking at an event in Phoenix, and despite her lofty credentials (she’s NYU’s Director of the College of Art and Science and a distinguished professor of neuroscience), she is an absolute kick to be around.

Her latest book is titled, “Good Anxiety” and if you’re ready to turn your anxiety into an asset, read on.

Tip number one: Embrace the Shake-Up!

Wendy encourages us to see anxiety as a natural, energizing force that can propel us to new heights. Just like a good workout shakes up your muscles, a bit of anxiety can shake up your brain, leading to enhanced focus and creativity. So, when you feel those butterflies in your stomach, remember, it’s just your brain gearing up for a mental marathon!

Now, let’s talk about tip number two: Break the Routine.

Wendy suggests that stepping out of your comfort zone can be a game-changer. Routine might feel cozy, but it can also turn your brain into a sluggish couch potato. Challenge yourself, take on new projects, or simply switch up your morning routine. She vividly describes it like giving your brain a bubble bath – you’ll feel refreshed, awakened and thriving.

And finally, tip number three: Transform Fear into Fuel.

Wendy’s wisdom teaches us to channel anxiety into motivation. Instead of letting fear hold you back, use it as rocket fuel for your goals. That presentation that makes your palms sweaty? Turn that nervous energy into a powerful, captivating performance. It’s all about flipping the script and turning anxiety into your secret weapon for success.

So there you have it – three tips from “Good Anxiety” that’ll have you conquering challenges with a grin on your face.

Remember, a little anxiety can be a catalyst for greatness. Embrace it, break free from the routine, and turn fear into your fuel. Get ready to supercharge your brain and achieve those goals like the unstoppable force you are!
